GURENLIAN, RDH, PhD, is a former chair of the Department of Dental Hygiene at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and past president of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association. She continues to consult and to offer continuing education services in the health care field. She has authored over 100 articles, is the coauthor of The Medical History: Clinical Implications and Emergency Prevention in Dental Settings, and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Distinguished Service Award. She is the vice president of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists and chairs a work group for the National Diabetes Education
